COP-15 and the Indian Girl

Interesting to come as a scientist to the climate conference in Copenhagen, and then realize that science is just one voice. Economists, Activists (Green, Orange, any colour you like), Lawyers, Engineers, Youth and many others were all speaking with strong voices in a cacophony, that the negotiators maybe would like to ignore, but definitely can't ignore, on their way into the formal meetings of COP, CMP, SBSTA and the ad-hoc working groups and all the informal gatherings in the meeting rooms and cafees all around the Bella Center. Loud manifestations everywhere. Fascinating atmosphere.

The quote of the day for me was when a very emotional Indian girl gave the negotiators her trust, the chairman of UNFCCC Yvo de Boer told her not to be so careless with her trust, because trust should be earned by the negotiators rather than given.
